Want to learn how to Tie Dye with colors that complement each other and a technique for focusing and relaxing to let your creativity flow?
Join Juliette O'Brill, Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design Admissions Outreach Counselor and Artist, for this fun, artful event and create a one-of-a-kind tie dyed shirt after a short review of color theory and a mindfulness activity.
Engaging in a practice of centering and grounding before making art can have a profound effect on the decision making process. By taking a moment to center, the nervous system has an opportunity to slow down and calm allowing your creative process to emerge. Grounding is similar and helps to build confidence in the present moment.
Workshop Schedule:
11:00-11:15 - Check-In, get supplies
11:15-11:45 - Art Mindfulness Activity on paper (or bring your own sketchbook)
11:45-12:00 - Reflection 11:45-1:45 - Tie Dye activities
1:45-2:00 - Clean up
- Please plan to be present by 11:10 to participate in the Health and Wellness activity, or just come for the Tie Dye will be from 12:00-2pm
- This class is especially good for ages 14-35, but ALL ages welcome. The $10 fee includes all supplies and a shirt to tie dye.
- Dress for mess
- ALL SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED PLUS A T-SHIRT TO TIE DYE AND TAKE HOME
- Parking is FREE in our parking lot between our building and Wizard's Chest on a first come first serve basis. There is also street parking available and a Route 0 bus stop right in front of our building!
About the instructor: Juliette O'Brill has devoted nearly two decades in higher education, inspiring young people to pursue creative careers and education. She currently represents Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) facilitating meaningful engagements as an Admissions Outreach Counselor Lead.
Juliette's own artistic practices have been shaped by this work and vise-versa. She also spends her spare time immersing herself in the Denver Art scene as an independent artist and business owner of Juliettes Creative, LLC. Her current focus is on embodying the courage to be unique and imaginative and champion bold ideas which promote mental health and wellness.
Juliette holds a BFA in painting and drawing from the College of Visual, Art and Design, St. Paul, Minnesota.
